A stationary series based off of real locations and wildlife from my own research trips, observations, and photos.
"River Birds" is based off of birds seen in the Los Angeles river. These are all birds I have either seen and photographed myself, or used data from iNaturalist to research.
Birds depicted include: White-Faced Ibis, Great Egret, Caspian Tern, American Wigeon, Black-Crowned Night Heron, Belted Kingfisher, American White Pelican, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, American Wood Duck, Hooded Merganser, Bufflehead, Green Heron, Black-Necked Stilt, Killdeer, Western Gull, Double-Crested Cormorant, Snowy Egret, American Coot, Brown Pelican, Mallard, Greater Yellowlegs, Sanderling
"Superbloom" is based off of iconic native plants of Southern California, particularly ones found in Antelope Valley.
Wildflowers depicted include: California Poppies, Arroyo Lupines, Common Fiddlenecks, Purple Owl-Clovers, and California Goldfields.
"Tide Pools" is based off of, well, tide pools of Southern California, inspired by marine life I've seen in places such as Malibu and Laguna Beach.
Species depicted include: Lesser Two-Spot Octopus, Ochre Star, Pacific Purple Sea Urchin, Scaled Worm Snail, Dwarf Subperch, Sunburst Anemone, Aggregating Anemone, Striped Shore Crab, Blueband Hermit Crab, Emarginate Dogwinkle, California Mussel, Wavy Turban, Norris Topsnail, Acorn Barnacle
"Tree Fungi" is based off of fungi, lichen, and moss I've spotted in Northeast USA, especially in New York and New Jersey.
Species depicted include: Crowded Parchment, Turkey Tail, Dryad's Saddle, Purple Jellydisc, Fairy Cups, Violet-Toothed Polypore, Golden Pholiota, Gilled Polypore, Powderhorn, Ochre Bracket, Giraffe Spot, Hexagonal-Pored Polypore, Star Moss, Speckled Shield Lichen
